Gesaffelstein feat. Pharrell Williams - Blast Off (2019)

Gesaffelstein, French-based DJ and record producer is releasing the album Hyperion (this means he’s a Dan Simons fan, hopefully) in just a couple of days. So far, he already shared some small teasers of the songs, including Reset and Lost in the Fire. The most recent revelation comes with one of the big guns on the new album, hip-hop genius Pharrell Williams whom he features on the song Blast Off. Recently, the artists also contributed to When I Get Home, the unexpected Solange album.

The Gesaffelstein song, however,  already has people talking and it is not a regular tune we might expect from the hat-wearing rap icon. Instead, with meandering Williams vocals and a strong chorus in the style of bands like Tears for Fears, the tune is something else. All of that sounds great if you’re not a fan of standard hip-hop tracks Williams made in the past, but his more experimental work.

Hyperion will hit the market on March 8th. Aside from Williams, it will include an appearance from HAIM as well. Gesaffelstein has already been booked for performances at the Governors Ball and Coachella, while the album could propel him even further. Check out Blast Off in the video below:
